EAST ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Now open in East Rochester: El Greco by Mike. The operator is Mike Karipidis.
The upscale place is at the corner of West Commercial and Garfield. It is open every day except Sundays and is open late on weekends.
Inside, it’s decorated with Greek iconography, marble and more. Karipidis says everything on the menu is authentically Greek. He also keeps an extensive wine list, featuring many imported Greek options.
El Greco is meant to transport you to Greece.
“The service is just like it is back home, you come in here, you feel like you’re there. The music is Greek, the food is Greek, the servers are Greek, the owner is Greek… So you get all that in one place,” he said.
He adds that he designed the place for a long and leisurely night out. El Greco is also branded as a music hall. It has a high-fidelity sound system, and the music is turned up late at night to enhance the atmosphere.
“I love seeing friendly faces and people smiling, and so far everybody’s happy being here,” he said. “They enjoy the food, they enjoy the environment in general they like what we created here, and that’s what makes me happy.”
