Woman sentenced for role in violent kidnapping over 10-cent dispute in Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. — One of two woman convicted in relation to a violent kidnapping in the city last year was sentenced Thursday.

Ceyaira Barker, 26, is set to serve five years in prison plus five years post-supervision after pleading guilty to second-degree robbery in connection to the brutal attack of Allison Smith on North Clinton Avenue Sept. 13, 2024.

Investigators said Smith was picked up by Barker and Shawntae Hall at Four Guys and was eventually found after collapsing in a nearby store on Hudson Avenue. This all came after Smith had asked strangers for 10 cents in spare change…
