FAIRPORT, N.Y. – Residents of the Northfield enriched housing program are resisting a forced move after being given 30 days to vacate. They are organizing a protest and seeking the attention of elected officials.
Janice Bell, a recent U.S. citizen, expressed her frustration. “Two years I live here, and I have to move again. And it’s taking a toll on me,” Bell said.
Joan Nersinger, 98, who has lived at the Northfield for nearly a decade, emphasized the sense of community. “Yes, I love them all. Yes, I’ve been here for eight years,” Nersinger said. Another resident added, “That’s the only thing. We’re not just losing a place; we’re losing our friends.”…
