ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — News 8 is learning more about the Waterloo man accused of hitting a Rochester police officer with a vehicle and leading officers on a chase that stretched for several miles.
Police say 26-year-old Dejon Butler was behind the wheel during the incident on Wednesday. He was later taken into custody and is now facing several charges, including reckless endangerment and fleeing police.

This wasn’t Butler’s first run-in with the law. Just last month, he was arrested in Seneca Falls on two bench warrants after missing a court appearance tied to earlier charges involving stolen property and drugs. A few weeks before that, he was arrested in Ontario County for allegedly not returning a borrowed vehicle as promised.
His legal troubles stretch back even further — in December 2024, he failed to appear in court on similar charges related to stolen property, which also resulted in a bench warrant…
