Man accused of abandoning dog in Farmington Tops parking lot, then driving off

FARMINGTON, N.Y. — A man was charged after Ontario County sheriff’s deputies say he abandoned a dog in the parking lot of Tops in Farmington.

Deputies say Jason Flint, the estranged husband of the dog’s owner, drove off without the dog in May. He turned himself in a month later and was arrested on Wednesday. According to deputies, video shows the dog walking toward Flint, but Flint walked faster to get to his car.

The Humane Society began investigating after the dog, named Duke, walked into the store. Duke was taken to a shelter and scanned for a microchip to find the dog’s owner. Investigators say that’s when they checked the security cameras at Tops to see what happened…
