RPD: Driver strikes police cruiser on Mt. Read Blvd., drives away

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A driver was issued multiple citations after police said he crashed into a police cruiser on Mt. Read Boulevard and left the scene.

Late Wednesday evening, around 11:13 p.m., the officer was driving south on Mt. Read Blvd. and approached Lexington Avenue. It was alleged that the driver of a Chevy Equinox, a 33-year-old man, allegedly ran the red light and hit the cruiser. The cruiser ended up crashing into a utility pole.

The officer in the cruiser was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries. The officer is expected to recover…
