ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester police have provided an update on the letter sent to businesses in the area of the Puerto Rican Festival this past weekend, where memos detailed a required closure to close for the day at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
N. Clinton businesses criticize order to close after Puerto Rican Festival
Officials said while businesses complied with the order, multiple incidents unfolded late Saturday night 10 minutes from where the Puerto Rican Festival wrapped up downtown.
According to police, a crowd of several hundred people gathered in the street near Clinton and Morrill. Officers responded to multiple incidents in that area between midnight and 2 a.m.
Shortly before midnight Saturday, a woman approached a police detail officer at Joseph Avenue and Clifford Avenue, claiming that 22-year-old Kyjion Carter had assaulted her and fired a gun near Clinton and Morrill.
