Garson Avenue House fire leaves firefighter injured, 8 displaced

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — One firefighter was injured, and eight people have been displaced following a massive fire on Garson Avenue in Rochester early Tuesday evening.

News 8 crews on scene saw Rochester Fire, AMR, and Rochester Police assisting as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. For a brief period of time, the fire grew so large that it could be seen shooting out of the house’s roof.

According to RFD Deputy Chief Daniel Witaowski, firefighters were first dispatched shortly after 5:30 p.m. At the time, he says the house was engulfed in flames.

“They [firefighters] encountered there was fire from the attic,” Witaowski said. “They quickly advanced to try and put the fire out, but the fire also seemed to advance quite a bit.”…
