Canandaigua man arrested for violating order of protection from jail

A Canandaigua man already behind bars is facing new charges after investigators say he violated an order of protection — from inside the Ontario County Jail.

Deputies arrested 45-year-old Justin C. Payne on August 21 for first-degree criminal contempt. According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Payne sent a letter to the protected victim while incarcerated, violating a court-issued order stemming from an earlier case.
