All aboard America’s fastest passenger train

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A trip into a long Labor Day weekend just got shorter, as Amtrak is debuting America’s fastest passenger train. And it all started in Hornell.

“It brought in an additional $200 million of investment into Hornell,” Alstom chief commercial officer Scott Sherin said. “It enabled a new hotel to be built, it enabled more residential housing to be built. And it actually saved the hospital. You know, a lot of the rural communities here in upstate New York are seeing challenges because they’re losing medical care and they’re losing hospitals because of these jobs that were created and the economic activity. And actually saved the local hospital and was able to continue quality health care for the community down there.”
