Two of seven charged in Sam Nordquist’s murder appear in court for Huntley hearing

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Two of the seven people charged with torturing and killing Sam Nordquist appeared in Ontario County Court Wednesday. Emily Motyka and Patrick Goodwin were in court for a Huntley hearing, where a judge decides if a defendant’s statements to officers are admissible in court.

A friend of the Nordquist family attended the hearing. LC Collins said, “Yes, the family knows what happened and stuff, but it’s like hearing more and more details. It feels like it just crushes them all over again and I can’t stand watching them get crushed on repeat.”

Collins said she is in constant communication with Nordquist’s family, who could not attend the hearing. “Because their family is now like my family and you don’t back down on family,” Collins said. “We will stay family forever like I told mama you’re stuck with me now and she is. She’s gained a daughter that she is not allowed to give up now and I will be there for them 100% every step of the way.”…
