Deputies: Man charged in deadly U-Haul crash well-known to law enforcement

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Monroe County Sheriff’s Office say the driver involved in the deadly U-Haul crash that ended in the Erie Canal is a “career criminal.”

The crash happened on Tuesday night during a police chase. Deputies say it started when two men, Ryan Armstrong and Reginald Russell, stole stuff from a Walgreens and wouldn’t stop when police tried to pull them over. A chase started, and ended when the U-Haul drove into the Erie Canal.

In a press conference on Friday, Chief Deputy Michael Fowler says Armstrong is well-known to law enforcement, showing his criminal record, which Fowler says is 40 pages long…
