ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A new school year is underway in the Rochester area. News10NBC TODAY has been live from a different school across the region each day this week. On Friday, we spoke with leaders at McQuaid Jesuit as they gear up for the second day of classes. You can see a list of when each school returned this week here.
McQuaid, an all-boys Catholic school for grades sixth through 12th, has some new academic initiatives this year. High school principal John Serafine said a partnership with the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship is right around the corner. He also said there are some new Advanced Placement classes and a wellness seminar for freshmen that focuses on mental and physical health. Serafine said he loved welcoming new and returning faces on Thursday for the start of their journey into a new school year.
“We have a school of great young men. We ask a lot of them, both in the classroom and in the community. They always seem to step up and impress me. I’m really proud of the tradition that we have here and the commitment to our mission,” he said…
