Rochester’s Di Paolo’s Bakery temporarily closes due to equipment failure, leaving local businesses scrambling for alternatives

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Di Paolo’s Bakery, a local wholesale bakery with more than 100 years of history, has temporarily closed its doors due to equipment failure. This sudden closure has left many local businesses that relied on the bakery scrambling to find alternatives for their bread and dessert supplies.

Di Paolo’s has been a staple supplier for numerous establishments, including Innovative Field, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and several local hot dog vendors. The bakery’s products are also available at Wegmans, Tom Wahl’s, and Bill Gray’s.

Steve Plum, who operates a hot dog stand on East Ave., has relied on Di Paolo’s bread for 20 years. “Yeah. I guess, last week, Di Paolo’s had a malfunction in their facility, and, so [it] affected a lot of people,” Plum said. “It’s not really hurting my business. It just makes me do a little more legwork and little change up in product.”…
