RPD: Convicted felon arrested, found in possession of automatic handgun

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with allegedly possessing a weapon illegally.

According to the Rochester Police Department, officers responded around 3 a.m. on Sunday to the 700 block of Norton Street for a report of a large house party. As they approached, officers found an illegally parked 2013 Cadillac in front of the property and proceeded to address the occupants inside the vehicle. During this, officers reportedly observed a handgun they said “was between the back of the passenger’s legs.”

The armed passenger, identified as 35-year-old Romand Avery of Niagara Falls, was taken into custody without incident as police recovered a 9mm handgun that was found to be loaded with 27 rounds and modified to be fully automatic…
