PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Pittsford firefighters were working Wednesday to get a body out from the Erie Canal in Pittsford.
Deputy David Marcucci confirmed that the Sheriff’s Office’s underwater search and rescue team, in conjunction with Pittsford firefighters, recovered the body — a middle-aged to older man — from the canal. All boat traffic is open again.
Marcucci says at around 2:30 p.m., they got a call for a report of a body in the canal. When deputies got there, they were able to confirm there was a person in the canal “beyond help.”…
