ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Members of the local jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and karate community will host a 36-hour fundraiser to raise money for a local teenager this weekend.
The event, held at Synthesis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Henrietta, is to support 13-year-old Tanner Lamagna, who was paralyzed in a BMX racing accident.
Tanner’s father, Dave, has been a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor at Fairport’s Faust’s USA Karate since 2013 and at Synthesis BJJ since 2022. Before the accident, Tanner also trained with his father in the sport. Organizers consider the fundraiser a way to “give back” to the Lamagna family…
