ROCHESTER, N.Y. — This week, New Yorkers are taking a pledge to get around without a car in support of the nationwide campaign “The Week Without Driving.”
Puddles, potholes and fractured sidewalks aren’t just a wet shoe nuisance for Josie McClary. But just some of the many factors she faces when commuting around Rochester.
“I was born and raised in New York City, and came here to Rochester and realized that public transportation was a little bit different,” Monroe County Chief of Community Engagement Officer Josie McClary said. “And I really enjoyed walking and realized walking couldn’t get me to make it to appointments. I couldn’t get to my kids’ school and get to work on time. So, eventually I had to get a car.”…
