Navy veteran Irmgard LaForge turns 109 in Rochester celebration

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A St. Ann’s Community resident marked a remarkable milestone this week. Irmgard LaForge, a Navy veteran and former teacher, celebrated her 109th birthday Wednesday at Cherry Ridge.

LaForge, who once served as a cryptographer, was honored with handmade cards from West Irondequoit’s Listwood Elementary students. Their teacher brought her husband, Navy Chief Charlton Harley, and Chief Ryan Hardy to join the celebration, making the day especially meaningful.
