Yellow Alert Tuesday: Tracking heavy rain and local thunderstorms

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Threat Tracker is Yellow for Tuesday as locally heavy rain and thunderstorms will move through the region during the day. At this time, we are not looking at widespread severe weather but rather a few rounds of downpours with some embedded thunder and lightning. This weather may impact any outdoor plans you have during the day and also bring ponding on roadways and slick spots with wet leaves. Rainfall amounts will average around an inch of rain with some towns getting a bit more than that. This rain will be very beneficial to the region but not enough to end the drought.

Before we get the rain on Tuesday, we have one more great day to enjoy. Lots of sunshine and near record warmth Monday with temps into the mid 80s. The record high for today is 87 degrees set way back in 1900. If you like the warmth make the most of it as temps will turn much cooler behind the front with highs back into the 50s and 60s and some frost looks likely in the mornings later…..
