Crossing guard in her 70s struck in hit-and-run in Rochester crosswalk

A crossing guard was struck by a sport utility vehicle in northeast Rochester Thursday morning, according to police.

The encounter took place in a crosswalk on Draper Street by Portland Avenue, around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, said Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department.

The crossing guard – a woman in her 70s – suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, he said. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment…
