Rochester railroad museum receives $10k grant to restore historic subway car

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum has received a $10,000 Historic Preservation Grant from the Rochester Area Community Foundation to support restoration of Rochester Subway Car 60, the last remaining car from the city’s former subway system.

It’s been nearly 70 years since the Rochester Subway shut down, but volunteers are hoping to get one of its original cars back on track.

“I was here when this rolled off the truck to get back here in 1998,” said volunteer Jeremy Tuke. “So, it’s incredibly rewarding to have this making the progress it’s having.”…
