GRASP to host free adoption, microchipping event

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – GRASP Animal Rescue and Garber Chevrolet Subaru in Webster will be hosting a free microchip and adoption event Saturday, October 25, to raise awareness about the importance of microchipping pets and to help find loving homes for local cats and dogs. The event will take place inside the dealership’s showroom on 740 Ridge Road from 10 a.m. – noon.

The event also coincides with Subaru’s 7th annual National Make a Dog’s Day which is on October 22. National Make a Dog’s Day encourages people to do something special for their dogs or to make a lasting difference by adopting or fostering a dog that’s in a shelter.

Organizers say many of GRASP’s adoptable dogs were once strays and were “pets that could have been quickly reunited with their families if they had been microchipped.” Through the Subaru Loves Pets Initiative, Garber Chevrolet Subaru is providing GRASP with grand funding, administered by the ASPCA, to help cover animal care expenses including microchipping, veterinary services, and adoption preparation. The support helps ensure that more animals in shelters find forever homes and fewer lost pets end up in shelters…
