Rochester subway relic gets $10k boost for restoration; volunteers aim to revive history

Rush, N.Y. (WHAM) — “Car 60” has been at the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum since 1998 — tucked away in the museum’s restoration shop.

Kyle Loveland, 24, volunteers his time as a welder, working to help restore it to its former glory.

“A lot of stuff was replaced,” Loveland said of the more than century-old rail car. “A lot of structural things had to be rebuilt just because they degraded over the years — a lot of rust and weather damaging things.”…
