Crews rescue person from top of porch after row house catches fire off Lake Avenue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester firefighters rescued a person from the top of a porch on Wednesday morning after a row house with multiple apartments caught fire.

RFD arrived at the house on Alameda Street off Lake Avenue around 3:20 a.m. and used a ladder to rescue the person. Five people and a dog were able to get out before crews arrived.

Crews found flames on both floors and the basement of one apartment and worked to stop it from spreading to neighboring apartments. RFD says the fire took just over an hour to control and they managed to contain it to one apartment…
