MCSO: Man convicted in St. John Fisher attack arrested for appearing on campus

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man who attacked a St. John Fisher employee back in February of 2024, has been arrested for allegedly showing up on campus, in violation of an order of protection, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Shalom Matthews, 20, of Brighton, pleaded guilty in May 2025, to second-degree attempted assault for the knifepoint attack in the University’s School of Pharmacy. He also pleaded to third-degree stalking involving a second victim.

Matthews was sentenced to probation and was banned from being on campus and had an order of protection to stay away from the Fisher staff member…
