The mural is being created by Downtown ROCs, a nonprofit that is dedicated to cleaning up and beautifying downtown Rochester. They are collaborating with RocGrowth to commission this work.
The mural will be on the exterior wall of Abilene Bar and Lounge, located at 153 Liberty Pole Way. Titled “Midge,” it will depict two outstretched hands connecting over a background of flowers.
“Commissioning a mural that both adds beauty to downtown and honors Midge’s legacy hasbeen a long-time goal of ours, and we’re thrilled it’s finally happening,” said Mike Gilbert,Executive Director of Downtown ROCs. “The outstretched hands represent her lifetime ofbuilding connections, and the flowers reflect her belief in the importance of beauty. Thosethemes are central to our mission as well, so it was serendipitous to find an artist like Shawneeto bring that vision to life.”…
