ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation has cleared Rochester Police officers involved in a deadly shooting in Rochester at the end of July.
Officers responded to Ernestine Street on July 31 following reports of a “suspicious man” attempting to enter cars. When they got there, they say they tried to talk to the suspect, Akintunde Campbell, and detain him.
Police say Campbell reached into his pocket and pulled out a gun. Despite being asked by police repeatedly to drop the gun, police say he didn’t, and as a result, the officers on scene pulled out their firearms and shot him…
