LYONS, N.Y. (WROC) — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Lyons on Monday.
Deputies said the person was hit on the south track just east of the State Route 14 overpass near Franklin Street. The train was traveling about 79 mph at the time.
According to Amtrak, the individual had been walking in an area of the tracks not designated for pedestrians when the crew saw them ahead. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released pending family notification…
