Man Faces Multiple Charges After Assaulting First Responders and Disrupting Monroe Businesses

A disturbance in downtown Monroe escalated when a man, initially apprehended for disorderly conduct, continued his aggressive behavior upon being transported to Monroe County Jail and a local hospital. The incident, which began around 6:22 PM last Saturday, involved the man assaulting several people in businesses along East Front Street, according to the Monroe Public Safety Department.

After the man refused to remove his hands from his pockets, provided a false name, and resisted arrest, police were forced to subdue and handcuff him near the Riverwalk trail the Monroe Public Safety Department shared; at the county jail, the suspect’s combative nature persisted, he was exhibiting “resistive behavior” towards officers and was confrontational, necessitating medical evaluation before booking could take place.
