Rochester, N.Y. — Reconnect Rochester will host a local event Sunday for the World Day of Remembrance, honoring victims of motor vehicle crashes.
Attendees, including crash victims and their families, will call on Monroe County leaders to set safer speed limits on local streets.
“We know from experiences across the United States that cities and towns that lower speed limits alone, without any other interventions, reduce crashes and improve survivability, especially for pedestrians and bicyclists,” said Reconnect Rochester Co-Executive Director Cody Donahue. “Therefore, we are advocating for the City of Rochester and eligible towns and villages in Monroe County to fully implement 25 MPH area speed limits on streets under their control before the end of 2026 to address the ongoing traffic safety crisis.”…
