‘My heart just shattered’: Family seeks justice in Lewis Street killing as homicide rates decline

ROCHESTER N.Y.(WROC) — Rochester is seeing fewer homicides than 2024. Yet, with 32 killings so far, nearly three a month, the trauma for families left behind hasn’t eased.

News 8 spoke with a family member of 27-year-old Lejand Watson, whose body was found in an upstairs apartment on Lewis Street on October 31.

“I just want somebody to come forward. If y’all know answers, please give it to us. I need that,” said Sharmaine Watson, Lejand’s cousin. “I lost so many, but this one is my heart. My heart just shattered.”…
