ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The weather should not be an issue if traveling around Western New York leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday. But a strong cold front will be crossing the Eastern Great Lakes Wednesday night into Thursday. This will bring windy and sharply colder weather for Thanksgiving Day into Friday. The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate this change in airmass will bring temperatures that will be cold enough for localized lake effect snow. Initially, this lake snow will be coming in off Lake Erie for Thursday with most of the accumulation located well south and west of Rochester. This means the New York State Thruway could be troublesome for poor visibility with accumulating snow south of Buffalo. It is likely that most of that lake snow would not reach the immediate Rochester area.
