In October 2025, the Acton Select Board approved a new Traffic Calming Policy. The policy aims to address traffic issues in the town. It introduces measures such as road narrowing, curb extensions, and speed humps to slow down traffic and improve safety. The policy does not include speed signs or stop signs as calming measures. According to MassDOT research, unnecessary stop signs can increase crash rates.
