Rochester’s newest homeless shelter holds first Thanksgiving celebration

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester’s newest homeless shelter celebrated its first-ever Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, while honoring the legacy of the late Sister Grace Miller.

The Sister Grace’s Men’s Homeless Shelter on 210 West Main St. gave meals to people in need. The shelter opened in October and has provided food and shelter to 25 to 30 men each night.

“We’re here because we want to continue sister Grace’s legacy, but we also see the needs of this community, and its growing,” said Sister Rita Lewis. “So we have to figure out how does the community take care of the community, and its by acts like this.”…
