Greece police make multiple arrests during shoplifting crackdown, echoing efforts across the state

The Greece Police Department has provided an update on its shoplifting crackdown at retail locations over the holiday weekend. The department says the operation resulted in several arrests.

Informed officers, foot patrols inside the Mall at Greece Ridge and marked patrol units were made “highly visible” in parking lots and at entrances. It was part of the department’s efforts to deter theft, disorderly behavior and large-group disturbances.

One of the most significant arrests during the operation involved a teenage girl who police say was caught shoplifting and was also in possession of an illegal gun. According to police, a search revealed the 15-year-old was concealing a $15 cologne and a loaded 9 millimeter ghost gun. The teen was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and taken to a juvenile detention center.
