Crews battle third-alarm fire in vacant church on Forbes St.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Firefighters responded to a major blaze at the vacant Trinity Inter-Faith Church on Forbes Street Sunday morning.

Around 10 a.m., multiple 911 calls reported the church on fire. Crews arrived within two minutes and saw flames from the exterior. Firefighters initially attempted to enter the building, but after about 10 minutes, the incident commander ordered everyone out due to the extent of the fire. The situation was then upgraded from a second to a third alarm.

The building was vacant, and no injuries were reported. RFD confirmed there had been a previous fire at the same location. The second and third floors sustained heavy damage, but nearby homes were not affected.

11 to 12 Rochester Fire Department companies responded, along with police and a fire investigator. Roads in the area are expected to remain closed until late afternoon…
