Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Robert Ricks, the father of Robert Brooks, expressed his dismay on Friday after a former correctional officer was released on bond on the first anniversary of his son’s death.

Brooks, a Greece native, was serving a 12-year sentence for assault when he was beaten by officers on Dec. 9, 2024, at Marcy Correctional Facility, before dying the following day. The incident was captured on body-worn cameras and sparked national outrage.
