ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Goodwill of the Finger Lakes launched a new kind of classroom to help adults earn a high school diploma equivalent. Goodwill Learning Academy says it is opening doors for adults who thought school was out of reach.
The Goodwill Learning Academy is located at 437 South Clinton Avenue in Rochester. GLA offers a free, 12-week in-person program or a learn-from-home and at your own pace option. Students receive a free laptop, educational coach and resources to get it done.
Adrian Ortiz dropped out of high school. He says he struggled emotionally and is autistic. He says school just wasn’t a good fit. He enrolled in the Goodwill Learning Academy because he says the program uses life skills to educate, such as budgeting, resume building and public speaking.
