ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — It’s been 13 years since an ambush in West Webster claimed the lives of two firefighters.
This morning, the West Webster Fire Department and the community gathered to reflect on that day and remember the lives of Lt. Michael Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka.
A fire was set on Christmas Eve 2012 at a home on Lake Road. Firefighters responded, and the suspect, William Spengler, opened fire at the first responders. Chiapperini and Kaczowka were killed, and two others were injured. The gun was sold to Spengler by Dawn Nguyen, who was sentenced after the shooting…
