If you live in the City of Rochester, you may have received a letter recently about your water. The letter talks about the dangers of lead as the City works to make changes to its filtration system.
The State Department of Health and the EPA approved the city’s process for treating water for lead and copper back in the 1990s but now, they want the city to do something different and until Rochester meets that benchmark, it’ll have to issue these notices to all residents.
It basically comes down to how the city filters water before it gets to your tap. The city’s chief water engineer says he’s making the changes required by the state and the feds but in the meantime, the water remains safe…
