ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Christmas Eve has arrived. The National Retail Federation predicts that Americans will spend over a trillion this holiday season, forecasting a 3.7% to 4.2% increase from last year. Here’s what to know if you’re last-minute shopping for gifts or getting a Christmas meal ready.
Hours for malls
Eastview Mall in Victor, Greece Ridge Mall, and Marketplace Mall are all open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The malls will be closed on Christmas Day, then will reopen on Friday for their regular 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. hours.
Local malls have stepped up their security this holiday season. The Greece Police Department has stepped up its patrols inside Greece Ridge Mall and at the parking lots since Black Friday. In addition, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has increased patrols at Eastview Mall. Deputies shared some tips to prevent theft, such as keeping items in your car out of view. Also, don’t leave purses, wallets, or cellphones on store counters, in carts, or in bathrooms.
