Key Findings From November’s Health Inspections In Monroe County

Health code inspectors in Monroe County were busy last month checking to make sure each restaurant and other non-food spots that prepare food, like schools and jails, meet certain safety standards. Many restaurants passed with flying colors.

There is also a long list of those who did not pass. Health code inspectors in Monroe County will give restaurants violations for things like “Garbage storage areas not properly constructed or maintained, creating a nuisance,” and “Effective measures not used to control entrance (rodent-, insect-proof contruction). Harborage areas available for rodents, insects and other vermin.”

Those violations are considered non-critical. Restaurants can get critical violations, such as “Enough refrigerated storage equipment is not present, properly designed, maintained or operated so that all potentially hazardous foods are cooled properly and stored below 45°F as required.”…
