Second officer released from hospital after police-involved shootout in Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. — A second officer has been discharged from Strong Memorial Hospital after Friday’s shootout in the city’s 19th Ward, according to Captain Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department.

Three Rochester police officers and a civilian were shot by a suspect, Eric Davis, 38, who was killed in the shootout, after police responded to a domestic violence call on Chili Avenue, police said.

One of the officers was released from the hospital Saturday, and a second was released Wednesday morning after undergoing several surgeries, according to Bello, who said the third officer remains hospitalized as his condition continues to improve…
