Flu cases still severe, but numbers and hospitalizations have dropped

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Good news on the influenza fight across New York, as there was no post-holiday spike and instead, cases and hospitalizations have started to drop.

According to the New York State Flu Tracker, cases statewide were down 43% for the week ending January 3. Monroe County saw a similar trend, seeing a 44% drop, with 1226 cases reported.

Statewide, hospitalizations fell 7% and 15% in Monroe County, but they’re still more than double the same time last year…
