Inmate sentenced to additional 25 years to life after admitting to 2024 murder of cellmate

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — An inmate at Five Points Correctional Facility pleaded guilty Wednesday to murdering his cellmate in 2024 and was sentenced to an additional 25 years to life in prison, according to the Seneca County District Attorney’s Office.

Kevin Farley, 43, admitted to two counts of first‑degree murder for killing 42‑year‑old Adam Lafferty during the night of Dec. 22–23, 2024. Prosecutors said Farley strangled Lafferty with a homemade ligature and used a metal device to ensure his death, remaining in the cell throughout the night. Lafferty was found dead in his bed the next morning.

Farley was already serving a sentence of 24 years to life for a 2016 second‑degree murder conviction out of Madison County. His new sentence, issued by Seneca County Court Judge Barry Porsche, will run consecutively—meaning Farley faces at least 49 years to life in prison…
