Rochester, N.Y. — An investigation is underway after a person was found dead Friday night at the scene of a fire on the city’s west side.
A report of a person trapped in a fire at a three-story boarding home on Lyell Avenue near Cameron Street came in around 7 p.m., according to Lt. Jackie Sierra of the Rochester Fire Department. Crews arrived on scene roughly 1 1/2 minutes later and found heavy black smoke coming from the wood-frame structure.
