Verizon’s ‘haywire’ software update leaves customers on ‘SOS’

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Many Verizon Wireless customers saw an “SOS” icon on their phones Wednesday, meaning their access to make calls was limited only to 911 and emergency services.

Many customers were still looking for answers Friday, demanding to know what caused the afternoon-long blackout.
