ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Valentine’s Day has historically been an ideal occasion to celebrate romance. But now, younger generations are abandoning it, in favor of “Galentine’s Day.”
“There’s no pressure,” participant Santiaga Rodriguez said. “It’s a girls’ day out. You know, everybody loves brunch. Everybody loves a reason to put on an outfit and get silly.”
“Galentine’s obviously is better,” event coordinator Kendra Worley said. “Time just for the girls. And it’s, you know, really something that, honestly, you can celebrate year-round. Valentine’s is just a day, but just honestly, like a whole movement.”…
