Lawsuit filed to hold Rochester Police accountable for animal cruelty law enforcement

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A lawsuit has been filed against the Rochester Police Department, pushing for stricter enforcement of animal cruelty laws. The lawsuit aims to ensure the department enforces Article 26 of the Agriculture and Markets Law, which focuses on animal welfare.

The lawsuit seeks to change current policies that defer animal cruelty enforcement to outside agencies. News10NBC’s Adelisa Badzic spoke with Reno Di Domenico on Monday, who is the vice president of humane law enforcement at Lollypop Farm, he said the current law in place is very vague when it comes to what the humane society can do to intervene animal abuse.
